On the occasion of the reopening of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Nabshi Center, in collaboration with TMoCA, has published a selection of the photographs from the museum’s international collection.
137 photographs by 61 prominent artists and photographers are featured in the book to give an overview of the history of photography and how it was developed from the nineteenth century through the second half of the twentieth century. The book also includes works from the conceptual era. The images of the book are arranged in a way that the chronological order of the works can, in effect, show the evolution of photography. Ansel Adams, Eugène Atget, John Baldessari, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Margaret Bourke-White, Julia Margaret Cameron, Walker Evans, Gilbert & George, Lewis Hine, David Hockney, László Moholy-Nagy, Nadar, Man Ray, Felice Beato, August Sander, Edward Steichen, Alfred Stieglitz, William Fox Talbot, Jerry Uelsmann, William Wegman and Edward Weston and many others are among the artists included in the book.
